Pursuant to powers and duties conferred upon it by Telecommunications Proclamation No 49/1996 (as amended), articles 6(2) and 13(1), the Ethiopian Telecommunication Agency, ETA, specifies technical standards and procedures for provision of Telecommunications Services. ETA determines technical standards regarding telecommunications including customer premises equipment. The standards will be regularly reviewed and updated so that industry and technology changes, as well as changes in consumer demands are taken into account, and the requirements remain relevant.
ETA also regulates the performance of key services, from basic telecom to mobile and internet access services offered by operator by setting Quality of Service (QoS) Standards.
